Delegation of the College of Economics and Management goes to Canada for overseas talent recruitment and international cooperation and exchanges

      From June 18th to 21st, 2018, the delegation of the College of Economics and Management of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Secretary Jiao Hong, Professor Wang Zilong, Associate Professor Xu Lingjuan, and Lecturer He Shawei, went to the University of Waterloo in Canada to hold an overseas talent recruitment meeting and visited Ryerson University in Toronto.
 

      On June 19th, the college delegation held a special overseas talent recruitment meeting at the William Tatham Center in the University of Waterloo, Canada. Based on the excellent publicity in the early stage, this recruitment meeting attracted some Ph.D. and Ph.D. graduates from the University of Waterloo and surrounding universities in the fields of economics, applied mathematics, and systems engineering, in addition to Chinese students studying in Canada, you also could see Canada and other foreign doctoral students.

      Jiao Hongtu, the party secretary of the college, firstly welcomed everyone to participate in this recruitment activity on behalf of the college, and introduced the school, college profile and corresponding talent policy. Prof. Wang Zilong, the head of the Department of Business and Industry, Associate Professor Xu Lingwei, the deputy director of the Department of Economics, and He Shaying, a lecturer in the Department of Management Science and Engineering, respectively introduced the major settings, subject direction, and current status of the teaching staff in their departments. Subsequently, members of the delegation gave detailed answers to the questions raised by the audience. In the free communication session of the recruitment meeting, doctoral students expressed their intention to apply for a job and submitted their resume on the spot.

      After the meeting, the delegation visited Professor Keith Hipel, a former member of the Royal Academy of Sciences of Canada. Professor Hipel led the delegation to visit the Student Innovation Design Experimental Center of the Department of System Design and Engineering at the University of Waterloo, and introduced the cooperation between the government, industry, university and research institutes. The two sides discussed the further promotion of joint training of doctoral students.
 

      On June 20, the delegation went to Ryerson University in Toronto. Professor Fang Liping, Associate Dean of the School of Engineering and Architecture, introduced the history of Ryerson University and the major setting and personnel training of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on issues such as undergraduate exchanges and teacher exchanges. Ryerson University's approach to curriculum development, talents and youth teacher training has many lessons to learn from. The two sides agree that in the future, they will focus on their respective schooling characteristics, deepen inter-school exchanges, and establish a long-term mutual visit mechanism. Subsequently, the delegation visited the industrial engineering laboratory and research center accompanied by Professor Fang Liping.

      Through this trip to Canada, it has attracted a large number of overseas high-level talents to participate, laying a solid foundation for further efforts to attract talents and further expand the influence of the college in North America. At the same time, learning the advanced experience of major construction and talent training in international universities will help to further improve the quality of personnel training in our college and improve the level of international education.
      The University of Waterloo which was founded in 1957 is a research-oriented public university located in    Waterloo, southwestern Ontario.       Ryerson University located in Toronto, Canada, was founded in 1948, its mission is to “learn through practice” with a focus on business applications and student employment prospects. According to the official website, Ryerson University currently has about 50,000 students and 900 faculty members. The school is an institution of higher learning with a focus on undergraduate education and rapid development of postgraduate education.
