报告题目：Navigating your academic journey: an exploration of the UK higher education landscape
This presentation aims to provide an overview of the UK higher education sector, including its structure and unique characteristics. Following this foundational insight, participants will receive guidance on navigating the complexities of securing a funded Ph.D. in the UK, understanding the UK academic job market, and crafting compelling academic job applications. The presentation will facilitate a thorough discussion of UK academic career paths to equip attendees with actionable insights into various trajectories within the higher education sector and strategies for career progression. The presentation will also explore the potential for fostering collaborations between Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Northumbria University with an aim to identify shared research objectives and opportunities for joint endeavours.
Dongna Zhang is an Assistant Professor (Senior Lecturer) in Economics and Finance at Northumbria University, UK. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of York, UK. Dongna is a fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy and the recipient of the York Learning and Teaching Award. Her research interests and expertise span financial economics, energy economics, green finance, corporate finance, and climate finance, with relevant publications receiving high citations in recent years. Her research findings have shed light on key issues such as the UK under-investment puzzle, climate risk, and green finance, offering policy implications for the UK industrial strategy. In collaboration with local authorities, the Confederation of British Industry, the Bank of England, and the OECD, Dongna has been the principal investigator on research grants awarded by the European Structural and Investment Funds, Research England, and UKRI. She serves on the editorial boards of several international journals.
